Reconnect a dropped microphone mid-workshop

Get a table's audio back without losing its transcript: RoomRadar retries a dropped phone automatically, and a spare phone can be linked to the same group by hand.

The group menu open on a disconnected table showing Link to disconnected group

To reconnect a dropped microphone mid-workshop without losing that table's transcript, first give RoomRadar a moment, a phone that drops its connection retries automatically and rejoins its own group. If it does not come back, or the phone itself needs to be swapped for a spare, use Link to disconnected group from the group's menu to hand that table's identity to the new phone. This guide covers both paths.

A dropped phone usually recovers on its own

If a phone briefly loses its network connection or the browser tab gets backgrounded, it reconnects automatically, retrying with a short, increasing delay. It rejoins as the same group it left, the table's transcript continues where it left off, with no action needed from you. In the workspace, a group in this state shows no audio and a message that RoomRadar is retrying automatically; give it a few seconds before assuming the table needs help.

A single dropped signal is usually a network blip, not a dead phone. Watch the group card for a few seconds before walking over, most reconnect on their own.

When you need to swap in a different phone

Sometimes the original phone will not come back, the battery died, someone accidentally closed the tab, or you need to hand the table a fresh device. Scanning the room's QR code again on a new phone does not fix this: a fresh scan always creates a brand-new, empty group, leaving the table's original transcript stranded under its old, now-disconnected group. To keep the table's history, you have to explicitly link the new phone's group to the old one.

1
Connect the spare phone as normal
Scan the QR code or enter the room code on the new phone, the same way you would for any new group. It joins as its own, new group for now.
2
Open the new group's menu
In the workspace, find the new group's card and open its menu.
3
Choose Link to disconnected group
Select Link to disconnected group…. RoomRadar lists groups that dropped and have not reconnected, each with when it was last seen.
4
Pick the table's original group
Choose the group that matches the table. The new phone takes over that group's identity, name, and running transcript, the old, empty entry disappears.
A group only appears in the disconnected list once it has actually dropped and stopped retrying. If you scan a fresh QR code before the old connection times out, you will end up with two live entries for one table until you link them.

Reassigning a phone to a different table

The same Link to disconnected group picker works even when the "disconnected" group is not the one you just connected, so if you genuinely need to move a live phone onto a different table's history mid-session, the mechanism is the same: connect the phone, then link it to the group whose identity it should take over.

FAQ

Do I lose the transcript if a phone disconnects?

No, as long as you either let it auto-reconnect or link a replacement phone to the same group afterward. Only scanning a fresh QR code without linking leaves the original transcript behind in a disconnected group.

How long does automatic reconnect keep trying?

The phone retries with a short, increasing delay for as long as the tab stays open and you have not manually left the meeting. A phone that is closed or put away will not reconnect on its own.

Can I merge two groups that were never the same table?

Linking is meant for continuing one table's identity onto a new device, not merging two different tables' conversations, use it only to reunite a table with itself.
